The dialog also allows the user to import the browsing data, cookies, bookmarks, preferences, etc., from IE to Microsoft Edge. On redirection to Microsoft Edge, the user is shown why the website is being redirected. Microsoft also maintains a compatibility list of websites for this purpose. To make this switch possible, Edge installs a Browser Helper Object (BHO) that hooks into Internet Explorer. Starting with Microsoft Edge version 84, Microsoft Edge supports this new capability that automatically redirects users from Internet Explorer. When the Internet Explorer user visits an unsupported website (e.g., Facebook, Internet Archive, etc.), the user may get a message stating the website is incompatible with Internet Explorer. I don't have the time to configure a local gpo for all of them, and I need a simpler way that I can pass to them to have them do, or have Level 1 tech support / customer support run, like a registry key or modify current IE shortcuts on their desktop which point at the server address. Many modern websites have designs that are incompatible with Internet Explorer. We are talking about 1000-2000 computers across all our customers, who will in fact call in and ask for help and not like being told they have to click the "reload in internet explorer" button in the settings every time they open it. I saw something promising, but it required group policy, but most of our customers do not use group policy from an active directory, and since we just sell software and provide support, we don't want to configure multiple local group policies. I've tried different settings in edge, but they are for just reloading IE as Edge, but not in IE mode. Has anyone figured out a way that will force a site to open in IE mode? I've tried -ie-mode-test, but that is an old way to enable it. Yeah, yeah, I know we should be moving on from IE, but ActiveX controls are baked in to the product and I have been telling them for 5 years (since I've been here) to move their webapp to a different browser and make it work without ActiveX, but they don't listen to me until it bites them. In preparation for the inevitable "I accidentally updated to Windows 11" and "I didn't tell it to do that" I am trying to figure out a way to force a website to open in IE mode.
